Firefighters Save 2 Pets After Apartment Fire

Arlington and Pantego firefighters said they saved two pets after battling an apartment fire Wednesday night.

Firefighters searched the apartment for the pets while battling the fire after reports that animals were inside.

Pantego firefighters found a dog and cat suffering from smoke inhalation. Arlington firefighters carried them out and treated them with oxygen masks and IV fluids.

After about 20 minutes, the dog — named Tank — recovered. The cat — named Paintbrush — regained consciousness about an hour later. Firefighters said both were alert and well when they left.

Firefighters said a second cat was found deceased. [[397769421,C]]
