Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said they responded to the 1-alarm fire at the home in the 6200 block of Lindsley Avenue just after 9 p.m. The damage was mostly confined to the back of the house.

"The investigator says that he thinks that the fire was started outside, because there's an antique chair outside," resident Sonja Gossett said. "It looked like it was one of the first things that burned and it was right next to an electrical box."

The home's residents said they went out to get a pizza and found the house on fire when they returned. Their 5-year-old dog Stella was in the home at the time. They said a neighbor kicked in the door to save her.

"I just don't understand," resident Stephanie Phillips said. "If someone set it, who could do that?"

No one was injured in the fire.

Gossett, a professional artist, said her artwork and supplies were damaged in the fire. She was scheduled to hold an art show in three weeks.

Gossett and Phillips said they recently had to evict a third resident. Arson investigators said they will interview her.
