Two Arlington firefighters were honored for their heroism Wednesday.
On Jan. 26, Lt. Darrel Whitfield and Kirk McLaughlin were a part of the team responding to a fire at the Cedar Bend Apartments. Whitfield and McLaughlin are credited with rescuing two women and successfully reviving them.
The pair were recognized at a ceremony that included the Arlington Fire Chief Robin Paulsgrove, Mayor Robert Cluck, city officials and the two women rescued.
The ceremony marked a unique opportunity for both the firefighters and the rescued women. According to officials, after the emergency, there is traditionally little interaction between firefighters and those they save.
