One Injured in Fort Worth House Fire

A firefighter was taken to the hospital with burn injuries to his hand

A Fort Worth firefighter was injured while fighting a house fire in the 3900-block of Littlejohn Street Friday morning.

Firefighters were called at about 4:30 a.m. to the home that had flames coming out of the side and the roof of the home.

When crews went inside, there were heavy flames and heat, causing a flash fire, according to Lt. Carol Jones, public information officer for the Fort Worth Fire Department.

The flash fire, caused by the super heating of the contents inside the home, caused the firefighters to retreat, but one firefighter had burns to his hand. He was taken to Parkland hospital and is expected to be fine, Jones said.

Investigators are now inside the home looking for a cause. The home is likely a total loss, according to fire crews.

Five people lived inside the home and are being assisted by Red Cross.
