Fire Causes Fort Worth Building to Collapse

It took Fort Worth firefighters nearly two hours to battle a large fire at a vacant apartment building on the city's south side.

It started around 1:30 Friday afternoon in the 900 block of West Cannon Street, not far from Trimble Tech High School, where smoke could be seen for miles.

Firefighters said the heat from the flames was so intense, the two-story building collapsed.

"Given the fact the building collapsed in on itself and the amount of fire damage that occurred, it will make it difficult job for the investigators," said Tim Hardeman of the Fort Worth Fire Department.

No one was injured.

The Fort Worth Department said the 7,000 square foot building is likely a total loss.
