Fire Destroys Historic Downtown Farmersville Buildings

The Farmersville Fire Department searched for the cause of a fire that destroyed historic parts of the small town's historic downtown Saturday.

The Farmersville Fire Department responded to a group of buildings on fire on the corner of McKinney Street and Main Street at 11:28 a.m. It took crews four hours to bring it under control.

No one was injured.

"I think everybody should reach out and pray for Farmersville," said business owner Tina Cisneros. "We really need prayer."

At least six other departments are there as well to provide aid.

"The older buildings, there's a lot of gaps in between them, so its easy for heat and smoke to travel onto the next one, just becomes like a domino effect," said Farmersville Fire Chief Kim Morris.

Fire crews said one of destroyed businesses was a Gazebo Manufacturing Facility.

Despite the fire, A Taste of Farmersville, an event scheduled to take place on Main Street continued.

"We take a lot of pride in our downtown area so it does hurt when something like this happens," said Morris.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
