A Mesquite man is in custody following a fatal shooting at a residence before dawn on Thanksgiving Day.[[354923091,R]]
Officers were called to a home on the 2600 block of Hidden Springs Drive at about 6 a.m. where two brothers had reportedly been involved in a fight that escalated into a fatal shooting, police said.
Police identified the victim as 35-year-old Darius Owens, of Winnfield, Louisiana and the suspect as 40-year-old Bruce R. Johnson, of Mesquite.
Johnson was taken into custody, though formal charges have not yet been filed. It is not known if he has hired an attorney and police have not released his mugshot citing the ongoing investigation.
Investigators have not confirmed if Owens and Johnson are related.
