A fiery crash involving an 18-wheeler shutdown parts of U.S. Highway 75 Wednesday night and crews spent Thursday morning cleaning up.

A tractor-trailer crashed on northbound U.S. 75 between Wilmeth and Melissa roads near the Collin County Courthouse at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Both lanes were closed Wednesday night.

By Thursday morning the southbound lanes had been reopened but the northbound lanes were still closed for cleanup.

Crews removed the burned semi by 5 a.m. Thursday but were continuing to mop up the fuel spill after the wreck.

Texas Department of Transportation crews reopened U.S. 75 just before 7 a.m. in time for rush hour.

NBC 5's Josh Ault contributed to this report.
