Father Fatally Shot After Men Steal His Pants: Police

Dallas police are looking for two people in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment building Wednesday morning.

At about 2:28 a.m., Dallas 911 operators received a call from a woman that told them the father of her child had been shot and killed in the breezeway outside of her apartment at 3011 Park Row Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a man, believed to be in his 20s, dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds.

The woman that called 911 told officers that the father of her child had called and said two men in a white minivan were following him. Police said they believe those men confronted the victim in the third floor breezeway and took the victim's pants before fatally shooting him.

Several witnesses told NBC 5 they heard three gunshots.

Police have transported several witnesses to police headquarters to get their statements and interview them about what they saw and heard.

Police said they believe the shooters, who remain at large, escaped in a white minivan and that they may have been injured in the altercation with the victim.

Officers found clothes at the intersection of Ervay Street and Grand Avenue that they said may have been thrown from the vehicle.

NBC 5's Jeff Smith contributed to this story.
