Father Accused of Killing Son in Dallas

Victim, 20, died from shotgun blast to stomach

A 50-year-old father is accused of shooting and killing his 20-year-old son with a shotgun in Dallas. 

It happened late Saturday night at an apartment complex in the 5400 block of Winton Street, near Mockingbird Station.

Dallas police Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse said the father, Sanders L. Phillips, called 911 and stated he had just shot his son during an argument.

Officers arrived to find the victim, James Devin Phillips, dead at the scene from a shotgun blast to the stomach.

The elder Phillips was taken to jail and charged with murder. His bond is set at $100,000.

There's no word on what started the argument.
