The Fort Worth Fire Department found the body of an elderly woman inside a house caught on fire early Saturday morning.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 82-year-old Eunice Middlebrook.
Around 4:50 a.m. fire units were sent out to the 3600 block of S. Hughes Street. About five minutes later firefighters arrived at the property and discovered smoke and fire coming from a small wood frame house.
The Fort Worth Fire Department says the rescue unit was briefly delayed in making entry inside the house due to the heavy fire conditions near the front door and locked burglar bars on the door.
Investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire.
