Prosecutors say a Fort Worth police officer has been indicted for causing the 2012 death of a motorist as the officer rushed to assist with a traffic stop.
A Tarrant County grand jury on Friday indicted officer Christopher Bolling on a count of manslaughter.
Prosecutors contend he recklessly caused the death of 77-year-old Billie Addington by striking the man's vehicle as Bolling traveled at a high speed without using his emergency lights or siren.
The collision occurred in August 2012 and authorities say Addington died from multiple injuries the following November.
The 30-year-old Bolling turned himself in Friday and was later released from the Tarrant County jail after posting a $7,500 bond.
Manslaughter is a second-degree felony punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison.
