Fort Worth is known for the Stockyards, Longhorns and great music. And now Cowtown can add another notable to it's list; the  fastest growing city in North Texas for 2009.

Close to 16,000 people moved into the city last year, bringing the total population of 736,200. Dallas, and Frisco round out the top three on the list.

According to the Star-Telegram, growth in the Alliance Corridor and developments like Seventh Street contributed to the growth.
Well over 6 million (6,729,400) people now call North Texas home.

The numbers come from the North Central Texas Council of Governments and are based on building permits, occupancy factors and household size.
