The family of a Lewisville boy who was fatally struck by a teen driver in training last week protested outside the police department headquarters Friday.
Eric Lozano, 12, died after a 16-year-old accidentally backed over him, according to police. The teen was learning to drive and had her father in the car.
"He was amazing," his mother Nicole Tamayo said. "Eric was the sweetest that you have ever met in your entire life. I am honored to call myself his mother."
During a celebration of Eric's life Thursday, father Jason Lozano said the family wants justice. More than that, he said they want an apology from the teen driver's family.
"It wouldn't bring my son back. Nothing, no amount of money, no amount of apologies, nothing will ever bring my son back," he said. "But it would take the anger away."
Jason Lozano said the family is frustrated with the Lewisville Police Department's slow response in their investigation.
About 20 of Eric Lozano's friends and family showed up to protest outside the Lewisville Police Department. They all had signs with sayings like “Justice for Eric” and “We Demand Justice." They all wore green, because it was the boy’s favorite color.

"I am devastated. I can not function right now," Tamayo said. "I’ve been in the hospital twice. I miss my baby more than anything."
The family wants the parents to be charged for negligence.
"I believe that her parents should be held accountable for what happened to my son," Lozano said. "It’s not fair that someone dies, and even if it was an accident, that no one is held responsible."
Lewisville Police Captain Dan Rochelle said the incident is still an ongoing investigation and they’re “working to see what, if any, criminal charges may be appropriate.”
