Family Needs Help Finding Hit-and-Run Driver

A Grand Prairie family is struggling to make ends meet after a hit-and-run crash.

It happened less than two weeks ago along the toll road stretch of Pioneer Parkway just east of Grand Prairie.

Joshua Bricker, an auto mechanic, said he was riding his motorcycle to work on Friday, June 13 around 7:40 a.m.

He said the driver of a gold Nissan Altima was on his phone, distracted.

“So I tried to make it around him and obviously it angered him, so he tried to cut me off and he literally did cut me off,” he said.

Bricker said the driver took off while he was fighting for his life. “I had thrown my arm into the wall to keep it from my head [from] hitting anything or me going over the wall into the lake and drowning,” he said.

He said he was caught between his motorcycle and a wall, and he was dragged about 700 yards. His clothes, gloves and shoes were shredded and he sustained multiple injuries.

“My foot had a quarter-sized hole in it, they had to cut it open to dig all the road rash and everything from the ground,” he said. “My finger was hanging down all the way to the bottom of my palm. I have a pin in my hand holding my bone in place with my knuckle.”

Police are still looking for the driver of the car that cut him off.

Despite the physical pain from the crash, Bricker said he feels the worst emotionally.

“I feel it's my fault that we're going through this,” he said. “I feel it's my fault that my kids can't have what they can have.”

Bricker is the sole breadwinner for his family, which includes his wife, three young children, his in-laws and his grandmother-in-law.

Friends of the family created a fundraising page, in an effort to carry them through in the immediate future. To donate, click here.
