Family Escapes Burning Home After Lightning Strike

A neighbor helped save a family of five after lightning struck their Carrollton home early Monday morning.

The Carrollton Fire Department battalion chief confirmed that the fire started when lightning struck the roof of the home in the 4100 block of Chocktaw Drive just before 5 a.m.

A neighbor noticed the fire, called 911 and then woke the family up, officials said.

Firefighters said the fire caused extensive damage to the home, including destroying most of the roof.

Lewisville Fire Department assisted in extinguishing the fire, officials said.
