Families Forced Out by Dallas Apartment Fire

Flames forced several Dallas families from an apartment building early Thursday morning.

The fire happened in the 4700 block of Bernal Drive in Dallas. The Red Cross said four units were gutted by the fire and eight people -- including children -- were are now without a home.

The apartments are on the second story of a commercial building. Firefighters don’t know what started the fire. There were no injuries.

Fires on Bernal Drive have kept firefighters busy this week. On Tuesday, firefighters responded to house fire in the 4900 block, about a quarter mile away.

In that fire, an older couple escaped the flames uninjured, but their house was badly damaged.

The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
