Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Volunteers in Oak Cliff

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a time for many Americans to give back through community service.

For Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg that meant helping plant a garden with volunteers in Oak Cliff.

"Service events like this are a great reflection of Dr. King's spirit and his life's work. And thanks to all of you who participated in a Day of Service in your community," Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page.

Zuckerberg also spent time Monday meeting with students who attend the School for the Talented and Gifted as well as Dallas police officers.

He wrote on Facebook that he had a good discussion with the officers about how law enforcement can use social media and other new technologies to connect with the public.

Zuckerberg says Texas was the first state on his year of travel challenge, in which he plans to visit and meet with people in all 50 states by the end of 2017.
