FWPD Investigating Arrest of 2 TWU Basketball Players

Fort Worth Police Department is investigating an incident involving two basketball players from Texas Wesleyan University.

Officers arrested Darrell Andre Robertson for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Malik E. Wineglass for unlawful restraint on Oct. 4 on the TWU Fort Worth Campus.

The Forth Worth Police Department Public Information Officer Daniel Segura said that the victims spent time with the suspects at a party. When the victims wanted to leave one of the suspects pulled out a gun and pointed it at them. Officers were not able to locate a weapon on the scene.

According to the police report, the incident involved two white females age 32 and 35. Officers took the suspects to the Tarrant County Jail.

The vice president for marketing and communications at TWU John Veillux said that the the two suspects were immediately suspended from the university.

"We take this incident very seriously," said Veilleux. "Texas Wesleyan University does not tolerate behavior of this nature from any member of its community. The safety of our students is always our top priority."
