The Federal Aviation Administration has lifted its temporary flight restrictions in the St. Louis area.
According to the Administration, it was lifted at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Lambert-St. Louis International Airport spokesman Jeff Lea said 10 inbound flights were canceled Monday night and another six outbound flights were canceled Tuesday morning due to lack of planes from the cancellations the night before. The airport remained open during the restriction and did not impact departing flights Monday night.
According to officials, there were reports of gunshots fired into the sky after the announcement of a grand jury's decision not to indict the officer in the Aug. 9 shooting of an unarmed black teenager.
The FAA said the reason for the ban was "to provide a safe environment for law enforcement activities."
