FAA Investigate Small Plane Crash Near Sanger

Police say a light plane crashed in rural Denton County, near the Wise County border Saturday evening.

The Federal Aviation Administration and Texas Department of Public Safety were called to the scene near Sanger at about 7 p.m.

According to an FAA spokesperson, the pilot of the single-engine plane was performing aerobatics before the plane crashed.

The pilot, who was the only occupant inside the plane, was flown to Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine by the pilot of a helicopter that was filming the aerobatics, according to Lunsford.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified and will take the lead in the investigation, Lunsford said.
