Texas Tech University officials say an All-American junior college baseball player who later competed for Tech drowned while swimming with family and friends over the holiday weekend.
Tech athletics spokesman Scott Lacefield said Monday that 21-year-old Elliot Richoux died Friday at Lake Conroe.
Authorities say he had jumped from a dock before slipping below the water. His body was found about 30 minutes later.
Richoux was a second-team All-American catcher at Howard College in Big Spring before playing the 2013 season with the Red Raiders. He earned all-state honors playing for The Woodlands High School.
