Prosecutors said a former Southeast Texas middle school teacher must serve five years in prison for sharing child pornography with an undercover agent.
Gary Alan George was sentenced Tuesday by a federal judge in Beaumont. The 56-year-old Beaumont man in April pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography.
Records show George taught in the Beaumont Independent School District from 1999 until September 2014. He resigned amid the investigation.
A 2015 indictment said George, during the summer of 2014, distributed child porn images to an undercover officer. Prosecutors say a search of George's home turned up personal electronic devices with thousands of child pornography images.
