Escapee From Federal Prison in Texas Recaptured

An ex-CEO of some Oklahoma energy companies has been caught after escaping from a minimum security federal prison in Central Texas.

Authorities say 55-year-old Jimmy Morrisett was located Tuesday at an abandoned house in Burnet, where he's from.

Morrisett was discovered missing Sunday night after apparently walking away from the satellite prison camp in Bastrop, about 30 miles east of Austin.

Morrisett is the former chief executive officer of Red Earth Resources Inc. and Alpine Petroleum LLC in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Morrisett in 2013 pleaded guilty to engaging in unlawful monetary transactions and was sentenced to nine years in prison. Prosecutors say he organized a nearly $7 million Ponzi scheme involving U.S. and Canadian investors.

Some of the more than 200 victims were elderly and lost their life savings.
