Escaped Sexual Predator Considered for Unsolved Attacks

Authorities in two states are reviewing the activities of a convicted Fort Worth sexual predator arrested Friday in Oklahoma.

Charles Sprague, 44, was returned to the Tarrant County Jail Monday after authorities say he walked away from a halfway house Wednesday morning.  He declined a request for an interview Monday at the Tarrant County Jail.

Police in North Richland Hills and Denton are considering whether Sprague may be connected to attacks on women that occurred while he was on the run.

Fort Worth Police said Sprague cut off his electronic monitor and left the halfway house around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Around noon Wednesday, a woman was abducted and robbed in North Richland Hills before she was released, North Richland Hills Police said.

Thursday around 11pm a man fitting Sprague's description tried to abduct a woman in Denton but she fought him off with pepper spray.

"We are looking into it to see if he was actually in Denton at that time," Denton Officer Ryan Grelle said.

Both suspect vehicles in Denton and North Richland Hills were grey colored SUV's, the same kind of vehicle Sprague was driving when arrested Friday at the Winstar Casino Hotel in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

Sprague's past criminal record includes abducting women in Denton and Tarrant County and sexually assaulting one of them.

Monday he was charged with violating the halfway house requirements.
