An inmate who escaped custody Monday from an Ellis County facility has been captured after being found near a creek Tuesday.
David Weldon Rowe, 67, a non-violent inmate serving time for driving while intoxicated, slipped away from a work detail Monday morning.
Rowe was part of a team working in an alternative program doing weed work when offiicals said he took off at about 9:40 a.m.
Officials said Rowe was spotted Tuesday afternoon near a creek and captured a short time later. Further details have not yet been released.
