Enormous H-E-B Store to be Built in Mansfield

A mega H-E-B store is being built in Mansfield, and is expected to be over 80,000 square feet

Popular central Texas grocery store chain H-E-B is continuing its northerly advance into DFW.

The Mansfield City Council announced Tuesday it had approved plans for a “high-quality commercial center” — one that will bring an enormous H-E-B store along with it, according to Belinda Willis, the communications director for Mansfield.

The San Antonio-based grocery store is expected to be around 80,000-106,000 square feet, and it will be perched atop the 34 acres of land that will encompass the commercial center.

Along with the development of the mega grocery store, the center is expected to have additional retail stores and restaurants, Willis said.

Mansfield was chosen due to the huge development space that will be located at the southeast corner of East Broad Street at U.S. 287. Willis said major infrastructure improvements would come along with the project's development.

“Mansfield is seen by many retailers as one of the most desirable markets in the nation,” said Mansfield City Manager Clayton Chandler.

More than 68,000 people live in Mansfield, and it is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas, Willis said.

“This is an exciting time to be in Mansfield,” Mayor David Cook said.

There has not been a project timeline released just yet, but the first approval of the project was on June 13.

H-E-B currently has seven stores in North Texas with locations in Stephenville, Granbury, Cleburne, Burleson, Waxahachie, Ennis and Corsicana.
