Dallas police say a maintenance man fell to his death in an elevator shaft Friday night.

Police said the man fell just before 8:15 p.m. inside a building on the 1500 block of Elm Street.

Dallas police and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a call about a deceased person and found the body of a Hispanic man in the elevator shaft.

Police said detectives learned the man was servicing equipment in the mechanical room next to the open elevator shaft and it appears the man fell.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene and are coordinating an investigation with Dallas police detectives.
