Elementary Teacher Charged With Making Heroin

A Houston-area first-grade teacher has been charged with manufacturing drugs after investigators say a raid on her apartment turned up heroin, guns and cash.

Montgomery County jail records show 31-year-old Monica Quintero was no longer in custody Thursday.

Quintero and three men were arrested Wednesday after officers searched her home in Porter. Neighbors complained of people often coming and going and strange smells from the unit. Investigators recovered several guns, heroin and more than $10,000.

Quintero was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. Three men who remained in custody Thursday face similar charges.

Quintero taught at Ridge Creek Elementary School in the Humble Independent School District but was put on leave after her arrest.

No publicly listed phone number could immediately be located for her.
