A West Texas zoo has taken an artistic turn using the animals.
The El Paso Zoo through Sunday will feature an exhibit of paintings made by snakes, elephants, seals, meerkats and a few other creatures. The artwork called "Color Coated" is on display at the Asia Discovery Center.
Zoo officials provided the paint and canvas for the animals to leave behind their particular marks or designs.
Coordinator Carrie Trudeau told the El Paso Times that painting is part of the enrichment program for some of the animals. She says the project exposes the zoo residents to different textures and scents.
