El Fenix Celebrates 95 Years With Free Sopapillas on Monday

An iconic Dallas restaurant is celebrating a major milestone, as of Sunday, El Fenix has been serving up Tex-Mex cuisine for 95 years.

On Monday, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings will honor the restaurant's founding Martinez family with a special proclamation.

You can celebrate El Fenix's 95th year too. As a special thank you to its guests, El Fenix is offering free sopapillas Monday at all 22 locations.

Alfred Martinez, 94, son of El Fenix founders Miguel and Faustina Martinez, will be on hand for the city proclamation.

Loyal customers of El Fenix's flagship restaurant at the corner of Griffin Street and McKinney Avenue in Downtown Dallas know Alfred Martinez can still be found greeting guests at their tables during lunch every Wednesday.

Throughout the month of September, El Fenix is also donating 9,500 enchiladas to the North Texas Food Bank.
