Dungey, Musquin Give KTM Racing Texas Supercross Sweep

Ryan Dungey extended his Supercross points lead with his second victory of the season in the 450SX main event at AT&T Stadium on Saturday night.

Dungey took the lead from the opening gate, held off an early charge by Ken Roczen and dominated the rest of the way for his 16th career Supercross win, tying Jean-Michel Bayle for 13th on the all-time 450SX list.

Dungey increased his points lead to 12 over Roczen.

"Wins are important. You're especially going to need them as we get toward the end of the season," Dungey said. "We're doing the best we can each week, putting ourselves in a good spot and we need to keep doing that. I got a good start tonight and was able to ride my own race."

Trey Canard, last week's winner, finished third. Blake Baggett was fourth and Andrew Short fifth.

Roczen has already won twice this season, but couldn't keep up with Dungey at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

"It was tricky out there," Roczen said. "I got off to a decent start and made a small mistake early, but I'm happy with a second place. It's a long, hard season and the championship won't come easy."

Marvin Musquin won the 250SX Eastern Regional final from start to finish, giving KTM Racing a Texas sweep. He finished just ahead of Justin Bogle to win his fifth career race.

"I had a great start then I just did my laps and kept doing what I had to do," said Musquin, who missed all of last season with an injury. "Just being consistent is what it's going to take and that's what I've been preparing for. I'm just happy to get it (a win) done this early, be here feeling good and healthy, and starting out strong."

Vicki Golden failed in her bid to become the first woman to qualify for a Supercross race, coming up about 4 seconds short of the top 40 that moved on to the 250SX night event.

"Today was good and bad," Golden said. "Unfortunately, I did not qualify, but all week, I have been saying that if I don't qualify, I want to be as close as possible. We did that at least today. I felt good on the track today, and I just need to be loose on the track. I am going to make the most of this week and come back strong next week for Atlanta."
