Duncanville Councilwoman Expelled

Councilmembers in the southern Dallas county city of Duncanville expelled one of their own on Saturday.

The council found that five term councilwoman Johnette Jameson violated 12 of the city's home rule charters.

In a press release sent to NBC DFW, the council said the following:

Pursuant to its authority under the Home Rule Charter and applicable law, the Duncanville City Council met today to hold a public hearing to determine whether or not Councilmember Johnette Jameson had willfully violated any of the 12 counts as listed in the Notice of Charges, as related to section 2.10 of the Duncanville City Charter.  After hearing approximately 4 ½ hours of evidence as presented, the Council retired and deliberated each of the 12 counts.  Upon their return, they voted and determined that actual willful violations had occurred.  In accordance with the Duncanville Home Rule Charter, the City Council voted 4 to 2 for Ms. Jameson’s expulsion.

Jameson submitted a letter of resignation in late October.

She recently told a blog that she is being targeted for filing legal action against fellow council members.
