Dump Truck Used in ATM Theft, Chase

Plano police say a man in a dump truck ripped an ATM from outside a bank in Plano and led officers on a chase that ended in Hutchins. [[365527041, C]]

Police say officers were called out to an alarm on an ATM at the Chase bank in the 3700 block of State Highway 121. When the officer arrived, the ATM was gone.

Police determined a front-end loader was used to knock the ATM loose.

The Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter helped police find the dump truck with the ATM in the back. When officers tried to pull the driver over, he didn't stop and the chase began.

When went through Plano, Dallas and eventually into Hutchins.

The Plano Police Department, Dallas Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff's Office, Hutchins Police Department and the DPS helicopter were all involved in the pursuit.

Spike strips were deployed, the back passenger tires of the dump truck were shredded and the chase ended in Hutchins.

Police say Hutchins resident Larry James Jackson, 63, was arrested and charged with theft and evading arrest Saturday.

According to investigators, it was not immediately clear if there were any additional suspects involved it the incident.
