Drunk Driver Sentenced to 30 Years in Burn Doctor Death

Justin Douglas Heaton, 25, was sentenced on Monday to 30 years in prision for the manslaughter death of Parkland burn doctor Gary Purdue.

Heaton hit and killed Purdue in October 2010 as Purdue rode his motorcycle to work in Dallas.

During the time of the crash, Heaton's blood alcohol level was 0.17 -- much higher than the limit of 0.08.

"I can't put into words how sorry I am that this has happened, " Heaton said while testifying during Monday's punishment phase.

Heaton will be eligible for parole in 15 years.
