Drug Deal Ends in Shooting at Denton Mall: Police

An apparent drug deal ended with a man being shot in the face in the parking lot of a Denton mall Thursday evening, police say.

Police were called to the Golden Triangle Mall at 7:14 p.m., said police spokesman Shan Kizer.

According to a police statement, an investigation revealed two men had met in the parking lot for a drug deal. One of the men tried to rob the other before shooting him in the face, Kizer said.

The injured man, who was not identified, was taken to Denton Regional Medical Center in stable condition and was expected to recover.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation was ongoing, police said.
