Driver Killed in Head-On Crash Near Sanger High School

One person has died after a head-on collision Monday afternoon in Denton County.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. along Farm to Market Road 455 near Sanger High School.

Investigators said a Hyundai Accent was traveling west along FM 455 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed into the oncoming eastbound lanes and struck a Mitsubishi Endeavor SUV.

The driver of the Hyundai was prounced deceased at the scene, and two young children riding in the car were injured.

One child was transported by air ambulance to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, while the other child was taken to Denton Regional Medical Center.

Sanger firefighters extricated the driver of the Mitsubishi, who was trapped inside the SUV, and the driver was transported by air ambulance to the Medical Center of Plano in serious condition.

The condition of the two children in the Hyundai was not released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.
