Driver Freed After Live Power Lines, Pole Crash Down on Car

A driver had to be rescued from a car after a power pole and live electrical wires crashed down onto the vehicle Thursday morning in Plano.

According to Plano spokesman Steve Stoler, a power line was hit by a contractor that led to four power poles falling down and hitting two cars on Custer Road between Plano Parkway and 15th Street.

Live power lines trapped the driver inside one of the vehicles, but rescuers were able to quickly secure the live wires and free the motorist.

Custer Road remains closed in the area.

No injuries have been reported.

Officials have not released any greater detail about what led to the incident.
