Emergency crews say a woman is dead after her truck plunged off a bridge and into the Trinity River bottoms in east Fort Worth early Monday morning.

MedStar Emergency Services said they found the woman dead at the scene. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the woman as 65-year-old Janice Smith.

Smith's truck went off a bridge on northbound east Loop 820 between Randol Mill Road and Trinity Boulevard and ended up in the bottoms of the Trinity River.

Fort Worth police said the truck did not enter the water.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 820, which were closed while emergency crews recovered the vehicle, reopened around 10 a.m.
