Drinks Are on American

AA to offer free booze in Admirals Clubs

It must be nice to be wealthy.

Take, for example, a new program offered by American Airlines. While the rest of us poor schlubs in cattle-car class, otherwise known as “coach,” get charged again and again for a second checked bag, or bulkhead seating, or a landing fee — and yes, dear god, get me off this thing — passengers with Gold Card status enough to gain entry into the Admirals Clubs get free booze.

The program — called “Cop a Buzz on Our Dime, We’ll Make It Up By Charging a Boarding Fee for Coach” or something like that — starts Oct. 1, so book those reservations now and let the party begin.

The news release issued by AA, and there’s a bit of irony for ya, includes no mention of a set number of free drinks a patron can receive, so sky’s the limit.
