Updating the ballpark's concession facilities cost one million dollars during the offseason

    A new season at Frisco’s Dr Pepper Ballpark means some big changes for RoughRiders fans.

    Team President Scott Sonju says his employees have been “busy” in the offseason, after the investment of about $1 million to upgrade the park’s entire concession system.

    “For a small ballpark like this, a $1 million investment is a lot,” Sonju added.

    All of the food and concession stations have been rebranded and the ballpark upgraded its menus and cooking equipment.

    Sonju calls it an investment in hospitality, saying the changes will add to the overall fan experience.

    “When I go out to a sporting event, I enjoy the overall atmosphere, but I have to tell you – I enjoy the food,” he said. “It’s important to have great drinks, great food, and it’s something we’ve really made a high priority.”

    The team also prioritized upgrading its catering facilities in order to serve other groups, like private parties, when the team is on the road or not in season.

    “We put in the infrastructure to allow a lot of different private groups have events here for non-baseball games,” Sonju said.

    The ballpark also sports a new playground this spring, specifically designed for children ages two to five.
