Downtown Sealed Off Over Vehicle Concern

Several blocks in downtown Dallas were blocked about two hours while authorities investigated what they initially described as a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the A. Maceo Smith Federal Building.

Officials reopened traffic to the area about 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

Authorities said a white pickup had gasoline containers in its bed, including one leaking onto the ground. Police were able to contact the owner, and no charges were expected to be filed.

A passer-by reported the vehicle, which caused concern because it was parked in front of a federal building -- "the wrong place at the wrong time in front of the wrong building," Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Joel Lavender said.
