Downtown Dallas Area Closed for Investigation Shrinks Tuesday

Parts of downtown Dallas are still closed five days after the deadly shooting of Dallas police officers at a protest, though the closed area is shrinking.

Most downtown streets reopened at 5 a.m. Tuesday as the crime scene gets smaller.

Main Street remains closed between South Market and North Lamar streets. South Austin Street is still closed between Main and Commerce streets.

The West End Dallas Area Rapid Transit station also reopened Tuesday morning.

County officials said it may be another "day or two" before all downtown streets are back open.

Street closures Tuesday are expected to double or even triple in size, due to President Obama's visit for Tuesday's memorial service at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Officials did not specify temporary street closures, citing security concerns.
