Don't Drink Discolored Tap Water: University of Houston

The University of Houston has advised students and staff on the main campus not to drink the discolored tap water as tests are done to determine the problem.

A statement Wednesday from UH, which has about 42,000 students and 2,300 faculty, says city officials providing the water say the supply is safe for consumption. The school says people on campus should avoid the tap water anyway, as a precaution, until the system can be flushed out.

Students were advised to shower at their discretion.

Municipal water officials and crews at UH are collecting water samples. No timetable was immediately provided on when test results will be available and tap water services return to normal.

UH dining sites on Wednesday morning offered bottled water and pastries.
