Denton Police Search for Officer Impersonator in Attempted Attack

Denton police are searching for a man who reportedly impersonated an officer and attacked a woman.

It happened Friday morning on Airport Road near the intersection of S. Western Boulevard.

The woman says the man was driving a sedan-style vehicle and had some sort of emergency lights in the front.

The woman says she thought she was getting pulled over, when she went to reach for her identification, the man lunged at her through the window.

She was able to fight him off and drive away.

The Denton Police Department  has reached out to Carrollton police investigators who are also looking into an impersonator who sexually assaulted a woman last month. It's too early to tell it both incidents are related.

"She could only describe the guy as wearing dark colored clothing," said Officer Ryan Grelle with the Denton Police department. "She didn't know if he was a black male, white male, Hispanic male, what type of male he was."

If anyone has any information about this incident or was in the area at the time this occurred please contact Sgt. Bobby Smith with the Denton Police Department at 940-349-7971. You can also text information to Tip411.
