Denton police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide at the Oaks of Denton Apartments in the 400 block of Bernard Street.
Officers arrived at the apartments Tuesday morning to find a female victim shot inside one of the units there.
Officer Ryan Grelle said she was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center where she died.
A man's body was found outside of the building in the parking lot.
Investigators also recovered a gun that they believe was used in the incident.
The names and relationship of the two people involved have not yet been confirmed, but Grelle said they are confident the incident was isolated between the two and that the general public is not in danger.
Residents at the apartment said it’s a generally quiet complex that many selected because it’s right across the street from the University of North Texas and generally safe.
