A man has been arrested in the shooting death of a delivery driver early Thursday outside a Fort Worth gas station, police say.
Lendon Lee Adams, 23, faces a murder charge in the death of Jonathan Luevano near the QuikTrip in the 5700 block of Bryant Irvin Road.[[302889321,L]]
Fort Worth police responded to the QuikTrip at about 4 a.m. after Luevano, a fuel delivery driver for Groendyke Transport, was found unresponsive in his truck.
Luevano had delivered fuel to the gas station earlier in the morning. The 911 caller, who said he noticed the driver still in his truck sometime later, went to check on him and found him unresponsive.
Homicide detectives said Luevano was likely shot at about 1:40 a.m.
Police reviewed surveillance video from the gas station and nearby businesses, and said a white Ford Mustang was seen circling the parking lot several times before five to six gunshots were heard on the video recording before the Mustang left the parking lot.
Later, at about 3:30 a.m., Benbrook police stopped the driver of white Ford Mustang and cited him for drug paraphernalia. Benbrook police shared the driver's information with Fort Worth police, who checked the man's address but did not locate him there.
As detectives were back near the QuikTrip parking lot, however, a white Ford Mustang was spotted in front of them at a red light. They pulled the car over, and the driver, Adams, agreed to an interview with homicide investigators.

A Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a Colt .380 semi-automatic handgun, along with three spent cartridge casings, were found inside the vehicle, police said. Police said preliminary ballistic tests indicated a match.
Adams was arrested without incident at a residence in Parker County and transported to the Fort Worth jail while police await formal charges by the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.
Groendyke Transport released the following statement Thursday:
"First and foremost, our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones and family members of our driver involved in this morning's incident. We are shocked and saddened by this tragedy.
"At this time we can tell you this was a local night shift driver, employed for approximately 1 year. This driver has an excellent safety and work record for Groendyke Transport and will be missed.
"We are doing everything we can to assist the Fort Worth Police Department in their investigation."
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the individual who lost his life. We are cooperating with police," said Mike Thornbrugh, QuikTrip spokesperson.
