Defense Questions Plano Officer on Day 5 of Enrique Arochi Trial

Defense attorneys spent Tuesday questioning a Plano detective that investigated the disappearance of Christina Morris, a Plano woman missing since 2014, in the trial of Enrique Arochi.

Morris was last seen on surveillance video with Arochi in a parking garage outside the Shops of Legacy in Plano in August of 2014.

Det. Aaron Benzick told the jury he looked over surveillance video and believes Morris was not kidnapped in the parking garage, but rather after she got into Arochi's Camaro. He also testified that he thought Morris got into the car willingly.

Defense attorneys showed the jury a surveillance picture of Arochi's Camaro approaching Bishop Road and Benzick testified that Morris and Arochi were in the car.

The defense then asked Benzick where she withdrew her consent. Benzick responded that it happened between the parking garage and the Sam Rayburn Tollway.

Prosecutors also reached an immunity agreement with Hunter Foster, Morris' boyfriend. In exchange, Foster testified on Tuesday.

Collin County prosecutors said Foster is not a suspect in the disappearance of Morris.

Foster is serving a 33-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to selling drugs to an undercover officer. The immunity agreement means Foster won't be prosecuted for additional drug charges due to information revealed in court.

During Foster's testimony, prosecutors presented text messages exchanged between Morris and Foster as evidence.

The text messages revealed Morris told Foster she was meeting up with friends at Henry's Tavern in Plano on the night of Aug 29, 2014. Foster responded back and said he's in Uptown Dallas.

A few hours later, Morris sent a series of text messages in the wee hours of the morning, including one that said Morris is "taking a taxi home."

Her final message to Foster came just before 4 a.m. Morris wrote, "Can I at least get into the house?"

Foster did not respond back until Sept. 2, 2014. He wrote, "Can you please tell me where you are?"

Arochi's former co-workers at Sprint testified late Tuesday and described strange behavior from Arochi the day after Morris disappeared.

Jacob Talamontes will likely take the stand on Wednesday.

He told NBC 5 Arochi showed up for work the day after Morris disappeared.

Talamonte noticed injuries to Arochi's hand and arm.

"He had a bite mark on his arm," said Talamontes. "All three of us (Arochi's co-workers) asked him what happened. He told us different stories. He told me his rim fell on him while he was changing a tire. He told two other co-workers that he got into a fight at the Shops at Legacy."

Attorneys looked at the cellphone records Arochi and Foster — during Monday's proceedings.

Prosecutors spent last week calling friends who were with Morris and Arochi the night Morris went missing. They testified that they didn't recall seeing cuts on Arochi's hands or damage to his car, both of which appeared the next day.
