Deadly Crash Kills One in North Dallas

A driver was killed Tuesday night in what witnesses called a violent car wreck in North Dallas.

Witnesses said the driver of a brown Mercury Marquis that was stopped at a light on Walnut Hill Lane peeled off, going northbound, on Marsh Lane just after 7 p.m.

The driver soon lost control and spun the car several times before wrapping the car around the tree.

The front half of the car ended up in the southbound lanes.

Mario Chavez, who saw the wreck, said he guessed the driver was going at least 70 mph.

"It's the worst accident I've ever seen, and I've seen a couple," he said. "My wife started screaming, 'Get out of the car and go help,' but I told her there was nothing I could do. I saw the body. I saw everything."

Police have not released the driver's name.
