A deadly crash closed all the lanes of northbound Interstate 35E in Downtown Dallas overnight Tuesday.

The crash happened at about 2 a.m. on the on-ramp from I-35E to the Dallas North Tollway.

A pickup truck had run out of gas on the ramp, police said. Two men got out of the truck to push it, while a woman steered. An SUV crashed into the back of the truck, hitting the two men. One died on the scene, police said.

The other two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The truck was in the active lane of travel when it was hit, police said.

Investigators shut down the freeway to investigate. The roadway reopened around 5 a.m.
